Damn Am story and photos

On the way up to Costa Mesa, CA you get to witness just how powerful the fires were. This is San Clemente or something... it can be wherever you want it to be though. This could be a little race car if you wanted it to be. Or the ocean. I dont care. But seriously this is the remains of Firestorm 2007. Maybe you heard about it? Heres this side of the course. Heres the middle of the course. Heres this side of the course. Sean Conover was there. During practice he had the kickflip back lip on lock...but During his runs they looked more like this. oh well. Abdias was there... Incase you forgot, Abdias was there... Elvis tried to drop in... Matt Allen was there... Adrian Mallory was shredding the course all weekend... Lupher eh? It actually started raining on Saturday right before the last heat. Since its hard to take photos of rain, I worked some photoshop magic so you could get that realistic feel for it. Then I went home. Notice how are obstacle at the finals was nothing like this photo? Well thats because the obstacle got built and brought to the showdown. But the fire marshall was over it and said the side of the pyrmaid had to go. The thing is ...that was our whole obstacle. So now instead of hitting the board at a angle and going back into the side of the pyrmaid you had to hit the whole damn thing. Hmm...ok The revised obstacle of death... If you can't skate you help in other ways... Adrian checking... Nuge checking... Johnny trying to size up the skateboard. They looked at it so much they needed a break... After practice on friday night we went to the Birdhouse premiere... Guess who was there...The Hawk! Drove home for the night then back up for the Downtown Showdown Finals... Crowd shot at the Creature obstacle Angel Backside air Sierra killed this obstacle but dirty Billy was the overall champion on it Angel was there to support Abdias's inward heelflip attempts Nuge, Sierra, and Abdias were holding down the Girl obstacle for Foundation. Ed skated for Toy and proceeded to front blunt up the spine. But Neil got in Ed's way then Ed proceeded to fight him. I thought it was a bit odd... Matt B was there... Angel flying at the Former worlds biggest skateboard... Foundation flow rider Alex Gordorous ollied up the board then frontside flipped off...but kinda didnt land it. that might be a problem if your trying to win a contest. Ceremony time... The Showdown was aptly named as the boys from Toy squared off against skateboarding's finest. While Ed made power moves trying to steal some of Girl's big guns and noseblunt to a chanting crowd, Johnny gave a bloody shaka while placing second in the Foundation skateboard challenge. Billy clinched victory and a Gibson guitar on the Girl Gonz gap, and the team as a whole placed second overall next to those rascally Zero soldiers. We posted up next to our ripping friends at Hometown Heroes. Always a good time with them. Fans...of course This was the new wheel toss game we brought out this year. Throw a wheel from outside the booth into one of the holes and win. Seems easy right? Well at times the wheel toss was easy so we invented other games. One of the better was the "Chug Alug Challenge". It consisted of 4-5 contestants pounding a 16oz energy drink the fatest they could. Whoever finished first won. I guess kids were throwing up. Thats what the lost energy drink people were saying when they came over to shut us down. Through the eyes of my cotton candy... Onto the next contest...whoever can fit in the duffel bag wins it. This kid came pretty close to fitting inside of it and us being able to zip it up. Sketchy...but he won. During the whole weekend we were promoting Foundationality awareness. Turn in a Element shirt for a Foundation shirt. Dont think we arn't cutting the shirt up The lucky winner Onto the skating already geez We got all gnarly and sponsored the event this year. Incase you were like trying a trick on the quarter pipe and right before you were wondering who sponsored the event you could look and check it out real quick then still get your trick. Nice. Thats like a football game sized crowd or something Sierra ripped all weekend long. I would know because I got his autograph. seriously though... On the way back to our booth I stumbled across something sketchier then our "Chug Alug Challenge"... It was heated when I got back to the Booth. There was a serious "Tech Deck Challenge" going on. Change the wheels on a tech deck the fatest and win some product. You can barely even see the parts Came up on a new Foundation shirt for his skills Onto about the best contest of them all. The "Can you steal something without the person knowing contest". This was the first and last attempt. Wasn't succesful. Nice jacket Nice board Dang nice cover Mr. David Reyes. You got cover of a bus. Thats like a category of photo incentive we don't even have. One last quick trip up to the front to check out the skating and we were out.
